Giving CBD for puppies to sleep

Does it work and what products to use

CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabis molecule with some very interesting properties. Today, veterinary research suggests that it could help not just people, but also dogs. Giving CBD to your dog can be a great way to help them with sleep problems and to relieve anxiety in stressful situations (before a visit to the vet, during fireworks…) In this article, we’ll be focusing on using CBD for puppies, more in particular to help them sleep. By scrolling to the end of the article, you’ll also find a selection of puppy-friendly CBD products for you to try out.

Can you give a puppy CBD oil?

Yes, you can give CBD oil to puppies. But only provided that the ingredients are all pet-safe and that the dose is right. We wouldn’t recommend giving a puppy human CBD oil because these products tend to be very concentrated. If you give too much CBD to a puppy, it could cause lethargy, nausea, and even vomiting. For that reason, we recommend only giving pet-specific CBD oil to puppies and making sure it’s a light potency product.

To find the right dose of CBD for puppies, you’ll have to weigh them first. Most brands of pet CBD products offer a grid that helps you see how much your puppy needs to take based on their weight. In the beginning, you can even start below that dose and see how your puppy reacts before increasing quantities.

Does CBD help puppies sleep?

Yes, CBD is a molecule that’s been shown to help dogs with sleep problems. It actually works in much the same way as it does on humans! Like people, dogs have an endocannabinoid system that responds to CBD. And since this endocannabinoid system is responsible for regulating stress management and sleep cycles, a system-boosting molecule like CBD can relieve anxiety and sleep problems.
